Zinc Vidyalaya is tucked away inside the Zinc Colony here in Hurda. Living and working in Bhilwara, especially in a place like this, means everyone pretty much knows everyone else. The school has been part of the colony landscape for a long time. It’s a quiet area mostly, away from the main city noise. We spend our days making sure the classrooms are ready and the kids are actually sitting in them. The desert heat in Rajasthan can be tough in the summer months, so we spend a lot of time checking the fans and water coolers. We aren't trying to be anything grand. It's just a school for the families around here. Our staff comes from the nearby houses, and we see each other at the local market too. The building is solid, though it shows its age in a few spots here and there. We don't mind that much. As long as there’s space for the kids to write and a spot for them to play during the break, we're doing okay. Sometimes we have to fix a leaky pipe or paint a wall, but that’s just part of keeping a place running. We follow the usual schedule, bells ringing on time, and teachers moving from one room to the next. It’s a steady rhythm that hasn’t changed much over the years. We just keep at it and hope the kids learn something useful.
