Sri Sai Balaji Coconuts

Our office is number 178 over in Keshavganj. If you walk through the market you will see the piles of coconuts stacked up high. The smell is very specific, kind of earthy and sweet from the dry husks. We spend our mornings watching the trucks unload. It is heavy work and the guys doing the lifting are much stronger than they look. The office itself is just a small room with a table and a couple of plastic chairs for visitors. We keep the ledger books on a shelf that is a bit crooked. There is always sand and bits of fiber on the floor no matter how many times we sweep it. Keshavganj is a busy area so there is always someone coming in to ask about prices or just to say hello. We drink a lot of water because it gets very dry here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back. We don't have any big posters or fancy lights. The business at Sri Sai Balaji Coconuts is just about the fruit and the people who need it. Most of our day is spent on the phone or talking to the drivers. By the time evening rolls around, the whole place is covered in the shadows of the stacks. It is a quiet kind of busy that we have grown to like over the years. We usually lock up when the market starts to thin out.
