Shagun Sweets

Shagun Sweets is right here in the LBS Market on Pur Road. It’s a busy little patch of ground. I arrive early every morning to see what the milk delivery looks like. Making sweets is all about timing and how much sugar you put in. We have these big iron vats that have been in use for years. The floor is always a bit sticky no matter how many times we wash it, but that's what happens in a sweet shop. People come in looking for something for a birthday or just because they had a bad day. We don't do anything too modern, just the traditional stuff we learned a long time ago. The market gets very crowded in the evenings, and sometimes it's hard to hear what the customers are saying over the noise of the traffic outside. I have two guys who help me with the frying and the syrup. We talk about the local news while we work. It’s a small space, so we’re always bumping into each other. We keep the glass cases wiped down so you can see what’s inside clearly. Sometimes a stray dog sits by the door, and we have to shoo it away. It’s just a normal shop doing normal things for the people living around Pur Road. We don't need much else. We stay open until the market starts to shut down for the night.
