About Patwa Kirana Store – Food & Beverages in Bhilwara
I run the Patwa Kirana Store right by the bus stand. It is a busy little place because people are always catching rides or getting off after a long day of work. I sell all the basic stuff like flour, pulses, soaps, and matches. My family has been doing this kind of thing for years. The sacks of grain are stacked up in the back and I keep the smaller items on the wooden shelves I built myself. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people come in at once. There is always a smell of spices in the air here. I wake up early to get the fresh milk packets ready before the first bus arrives at six. The floor is concrete and I have to sweep it three times a day because of all the feet walking in. I use a ledger book to keep track of what I owe the suppliers. My handwriting isn't great, but I can read it just fine. Sometimes children come in for a single piece of candy after school. I keep those in glass jars on the front counter. It is a simple job, but it keeps me busy from sunrise to sunset. I don't have a computer or anything, just my scales and a calculator that is missing the number seven button, so I have to be careful with the totals.
