Naman Namkeen

Naman Namkeen is over in Shastri Nagar. It’s a smaller operation compared to some of the big factories, but we keep busy enough. We make a few different kinds of snacks, like sev and some spicy mixtures. The shop is just a simple room with some counters and scales for weighing the orders. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases because the oil makes everything a bit sticky. It’s mostly just family working here. We start the frying in the afternoon so that the snacks are fresh for the evening rush when people are coming home from work. Shastri Nagar is a decent place to be, not as loud as the main markets but still has enough people walking around. We have a few benches outside where people sometimes sit and eat. I usually spend my time either at the fryer or standing behind the scale. It’s a simple business. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that; people just know we’re here because they walk past us every day. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff early and have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s just a regular shop, nothing special, just trying to make a living and keep the place running. The hours are long but we like being part of the neighborhood here. We just hope the oil stays hot and the customers keep coming.
