Jain Namkeen

Down here on Pur Road in the Gulmandi area, things stay pretty lively. We’ve got the shop set up to handle the local crowd that passes by every day. It’s mostly about namkeen here. We spend a lot of time weighing out bags and making sure everything is sealed up right. Gulmandi has its own rhythm, and we’ve just become a part of it over time. The air usually smells like spices and oil, which is just how a namkeen shop should be. We don't spend money on fancy signs or anything. Most people know we are here because they live nearby or work on Pur Road. It’s a straightforward business. We wake up, get the batches going, and wait for the regulars to start showing up in the afternoon. Sometimes we have a chat, sometimes they are in a rush. The shop isn't huge, so we have to stay organized or we lose track of what we’ve got left. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place to get some snacks for tea time or for when guests come over. You can see the traffic moving outside on Pur Road while we work. It’s a bit dusty sometimes, but that’s the reality of being in this part of the city. We just keep the namkeen fresh and the door open for whoever stops by.
