India Handicraft Exporter

The office is at 7-K-21 in the R.C. Vyas Colony, which is a pretty residential-feeling neighborhood to be running an export business from. We use a couple of rooms that are filled with boxes and samples of different handicrafts. There is always a lot of paperwork on the desks and the sound of the printer going off. Since we deal with exporting, a lot of our time is spent on the phone or on the computer checking where things are. It’s not a fancy showroom, it's more like a busy hub where things are constantly coming in and going out. The neighbors are used to seeing the delivery trucks pull up by now, even if the streets are a bit narrow for the bigger ones. We have a small crew and we’ve all been working together for a long time, so we know the routine. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish up a shipment, and the street gets real quiet then. There isn't any corporate vibe here; it’s more like a family business where we wear whatever is comfortable and drink a lot of chai throughout the day. We’ve got shelves stacked high with various samples, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what we’re looking for in the middle of a busy morning. It’s just a regular local operation, trying to stay on top of the orders and making sure the boxes get where they need to go on time.
