Hindustan Zinc Limited

Rampura Agucha is a bit different from the main city. We are out here at Zinc Colony, specifically in Quarter Sh-2. Being near the mine means things are a bit noisier and there is always a sense of activity in the air. This part of Bhilwara district is really built around the mining operations of Hindustan Zinc Limited. Life here is tied to the shifts. When the whistle blows or the shift changes, you can feel the whole colony move. Sh-2 is just a simple place where we manage our part of the operations. It’s not meant to be a showroom. We have our desks, our chairs, and our tea kettle. The weather in Rajasthan is harsh, so we spend a lot of time trying to keep the heat out during the day. You see the hills and the mining equipment in the distance. People here are practical. There is no room for fluff when you are living this close to a major industrial site. We know our neighbors well because we see them at the canteen or on the road every day. It’s a small world inside the colony. We handle our paperwork and our meetings right here in the quarter. It works for us because we are close to where everything happens. It’s a functional way to live and work, focusing on the tasks that need to get done before the next shift starts.
