We opened up here at Gopalganj 6/8 D because we knew about spices and not much else. It gets pretty loud on this street during the day. Most mornings start with moving heavy bags around and making sure the jars are actually filled up. People come by asking for specific things, maybe some cumin or a certain kind of chili powder they can't find elsewhere. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the dust from the peppers makes everyone sneeze. It’s a small space, really. We have shelves lining the walls and a counter that’s seen better days. My family has been doing this for a bit. It is not fancy work. You get the smell of cardamom and cloves stuck in your clothes by the time you go home. Some regulars come in just to talk for a minute while they wait for their order. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Just the name D N M Spices on the front. On rainy days, the floor gets a bit muddy from people coming in off the road. We just mop it up and keep going. Usually, we are here from early morning until the sun goes down. There is always something to weigh or a bag that needs sealing. It’s just how the days go here. We don't spend money on ads. People just know where we are at 6/8 D. We focus on the product and keeping the shop open every day.
