Shri Balaji Granite And Marbles is situated in Govind Nagar, right near the National Highway. Being so close to the highway means there’s never a quiet moment. You can hear the roar of the trucks and cars all day long as they zoom past. It’s a good spot for a stone yard because people traveling through can easily see what we have on display. We keep a lot of our marble and granite stacked up where it can be seen from the road. The dust from the highway tends to settle on everything, so we spend a fair amount of time hosing things down or wiping off the slabs so people can see the real colors of the stone. It’s just a few of us working here. We don't have any fancy titles or big meetings. We just show up, unload the new arrivals from the quarry, and help whoever comes in looking for flooring or counters. Sometimes a customer will spend an hour just walking around the yard trying to pick the right pattern. We let them take their time. Stone is something you’re going to live with for years, so there’s no point in rushing. It’s physical work and the sun can be quite brutal in the middle of the day, but we’re used to it. We just keep the gate open and wait for the next person to pull off the highway to see what we’ve got.
