Well Known Marine

Well Known Marine is based out of Plot No- 75, right near the old Ambika Mill on Kumbharwada Madhya Road. Since we are close to the water, the air always has that salty smell that sticks to everything. Our yard is full of marine parts and bits of hardware that we’ve collected over the years. Some of it is rusty, and some of it is still in the original crates. It can look like a bit of a maze if you don’t know where you’re going, but the guys who work here can find a specific bolt or pump in no time. The ground is mostly dirt and gravel, so it gets muddy when it rains, and we end up tracking it into the small office. We spend a lot of time talking to ship owners and people looking for parts that aren't made anymore. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and using the crane to move things around. The sun beats down on the yard all day, so we usually wear hats and try to stay in the shade when we can. It’s not a glamorous job, and your hands are almost always black from the old engine oil. We just keep the gates open and wait to see what kind of job comes in next. It’s a slow-paced life here compared to the city, but there is always something that needs moving or fixing.
