Usha Compressed Wood Manufacturing Co.

Our workshop is located at 10/F on Ruvapari Road. It’s a place where you can always smell the wood as soon as you step inside. We’ve been doing this compressed wood manufacturing for a long time now. The space is filled with stacks of materials and the sound of the presses. It gets pretty loud during the day, so we mostly communicate with hand signals when the machines are at full speed. Ruvapari Road is a decent area to work in, though it gets dusty because of all the heavy vehicles passing by. We started small and just kept adding a few things here and there as we needed them. Our floor is covered in fine sawdust most of the time, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a practical environment where everyone knows their job. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. If someone stops by, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and goes over to see what they need. The work is physical and can be tiring by the end of the shift, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing the finished boards stacked up and ready to go. We keep a kettle in the back for tea breaks, which is usually when we catch up on how things are going. It’s a simple life here at Usha, just making wood products and keeping the business moving along day by day.
