Sir Takhta Sinhji Hospital Col

Our place is located over in Kera Nana, Bhavnagar. It’s a bit of a trek for some folks, but we’ve been a part of the landscape here for a good many years. Being both a hospital and a college means there are always students running around in white coats with their books and stethoscopes tucked under their arms. It makes the place feel younger and more energetic, even if the building itself is quite old and shows its age in the corners. We have a lot of long hallways that seem to go on forever, and you can always hear the low hum of the city if you stand near the windows in the afternoon. The staff here is a mix of old-timers who have seen everything and students who are just starting to learn the ropes. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or slogans hanging up on the walls. We just try to make sure the patients are looked after and the students actually learn something they can use later on. The weather gets really hot here during the summer months, and the old ceiling fans in the wards never seem to move fast enough to cool things down. Most of the people coming in are from the surrounding villages and the nearby neighborhoods. We speak the local language and try to keep things as simple as possible. It’s not a corporate setup at all, but more like a big, slightly disorganized family where everyone tries to do their part.
