Our place, Garg Castings, is located in the Phase 2 section of the GIDC. If you spend any time in the industrial estate, you know that Phase 2 is always humming with activity. We run a casting operation here, which means the air is usually warm and there is a lot of heavy equipment around. It’s a basic industrial setup without any unnecessary trimmings. We focus on the molds and the metal, spending most of our time on the shop floor rather than in an office. The GIDC is a big area, but once you get into the second phase, the roads are laid out in a way that most regulars can navigate easily. Our unit is just a regular factory building where we do our day-to-day pouring and finishing. It can be a messy job, so the place looks like a working foundry should, with sand and metal parts in various stages of completion. We have been here for a good while, and most of the staff have grown used to the rhythm of the furnaces and the cycles of the work. There isn't much to see if you aren't interested in how things are cast, but for us, it’s our daily bread. We keep the gates open during work hours and there’s usually a truck being loaded or unloaded nearby. It’s a practical, hardworking atmosphere that matches the rest of the GIDC Phase 2 vibe.
