Our place is right on the Bhavnagar-Rajkot road, very close to Khakhariya Patiya. You really cannot miss the stacks of concrete if you are driving toward Sihor. We have been at Plot No. 2 for several years. It is a very busy stretch of highway, so there is constant noise from the big trucks and buses passing by. We mostly do cement articles like blocks and items for garden walls. The sun hits the open yard pretty hard in the afternoon, so we try to get most of the heavy mixing and pouring done before noon. We started on this survey number back when it was mostly empty fields. My nephew handles some of the paperwork, but mostly I am out back with the workers making sure the molds are filled right. We have a lot of different sizes just sitting around in the sun. Sometimes people stop their cars just because they saw something they liked from the road. We do not do any advertising, word of mouth from the village is how we stay busy. The cement bags arrive every week and we have to move them into the shed before any rain starts. It is a very simple setup, nothing like those giant factories you see in the cities. We have a small tin shed where we keep the tools and take our tea breaks. Life is okay here despite all the road dust and the constant heat.
