Out here on Old Bunder Road, things move at a bit of a different pace. We are Raja Slates Pvt. Ltd. and we have been handling these stone products for quite some time now. If you walk down towards the water, you can feel the salt in the air. Our yard is filled with stacks of slates and raw materials. It’s a bit messy, to be honest, but that’s just how a stone business looks when people are actually working. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Usually, it's just a few of us in the office and the guys out back moving the heavy stuff. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, especially when the wind blows off the coast. We use old machines because they still work fine and we know how to fix them ourselves when they break down. People still use slates for all sorts of things, and we just keep supplying them from this spot. The road gets crowded with lorries in the afternoon, making it hard to get in and out sometimes. We usually have tea around four o’clock and talk about what needs to get done for the next day. It’s a straightforward life. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just stay here on Old Bunder Road and keep the business going as best as we can.
