We are over here at Patel Mansukhlal Kanjilal & Co., right near the Pajiya Mama Temple on Juna Bunder Road. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty busy when there’s a festival or something going on at the temple. The bells ring in the morning and it’s a nice way to start the day. Our place isn't anything special to look at, just a regular shop where we keep our stock and handle the paperwork. Juna Bunder Road has changed a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed right in this same spot. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons because the sun hits the front of the building directly. We usually keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. There’s a lot of traffic going by toward the old port, so there is always a bit of noise from the trucks and bikes. Most of the people who come by have been coming here for years. We don't do much in the way of decorating the place; we just have what we need to get the job done. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in and sleeps on the back counter. It’s a simple operation, really. We open up early, sweep the front, and get to it. It’s a lot of manual work and checking lists, but it keeps us busy and the day goes by fast enough.
