Patel Casting Eng. Works

Over at Patel Casting Eng. Works on Plot No. 3543/B in Phase-2 of Chitra Gidc, the heat is the first thing you notice. Casting metal is a hot and sweaty job, and there is no way around it. We spend our time working with molds and molten metal, which requires a lot of focus and a steady hand. The floor is covered in sand and bits of scrap that we recycle back into the furnace. It’s a very physical environment, and you can hear the roar of the blowers from the street. We don’t have much in the way of a lobby or a reception area; if you want to talk to us, you usually have to find us near the pits. The air is thick with the smell of scorched sand and metal. It’s the kind of work that leaves you tired at the end of the shift, but we’ve been doing it at this Chitra Gidc location for years. We know the machines and their quirks, like which one needs a little tap to get started. It’s not a fancy operation, just a lot of hard work in a noisy shed. We focus on getting the shapes right and making sure the castings are solid before they cool down and get sent out. Every piece we make has its own set of challenges, but that is just part of the daily grind.
