Merchant Merine is over at 115 Gitanjali Complex. You can find us in the Kalanala area. It’s a well-known spot and the building has been there for years. We handle marine supplies and equipment. Our office is usually filled with boxes of parts and thick catalogs. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is kept. We talk to sailors and people who work on ships all day. It’s a specific kind of work and we enjoy it. Kalanala is always bustling with activity, so there is never a dull moment outside the window. We aren't a big corporation with a lot of rules. We just try to help people find the marine parts they need for their vessels. Sometimes we have to hunt for a rare item, which can take some time. The tea stall nearby is where we spend our breaks and talk about the day. We don't do any big advertising campaigns or anything like that. Most of our customers have been coming to us for a long time. They know we are just a small, local shop. We don't have a fancy mission statement. We just show up, open the shop, and get to work. It’s a practical life and we like being near the water. The office might be small and a bit cramped, but it’s home for us during the day. We just focus on the sea and the supplies and getting orders out to the harbor.
