Maruti Masala

You can find Maruti Masala over in Ward No.11 on Gadhada Road in Botad. We are situated right near the Indian Petrol Pump and the Power House. It’s a landmark everyone in town knows. The road out here can get quite dusty especially when the wind picks up. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars on our shelves. We have all sorts of powders and whole spices stored in big containers. The smell is very strong when you first walk in. Some people find it overwhelming but we don't even notice it anymore. We started this business because there wasn't a good place nearby for people to get their daily cooking needs. Now we have many regulars who come from the surrounding villages. We don't have any polished brochures or a fancy website. We just have our shop and our products. Sometimes the power goes out because of the station nearby and we have to work by candlelight. It’s part of the charm of being in this part of Botad. We work long hours from morning until late evening. My kids sometimes come after school to help with the smaller packets. It is a family effort mostly. We just want to keep the business going for the next few years and see what happens. We take things as they come and try to keep our customers happy with what we provide.
