Karma Art is tucked into Mahavir Palace at 8/A Kalubha Road. It’s a quiet enough street, which is nice when you’re trying to focus on art. The space isn't very big, so we have to be careful about where we put things. Frames, canvases, and brushes take up most of the room. We don't have a dedicated salesperson. Whoever is free just stops what they're doing to help whoever walks through the door. It’s a bit informal, but people seem to appreciate that. We aren't trying to be a high-end gallery with white walls and spotlights. Our walls are covered in whatever we’re working on or things we’ve finished recently. There’s usually a bit of paint on the floor and the smell of turpentine in the air. We’ve been at Mahavir Palace for some time now. The building is decent, and we get along with the other tenants. Most of our work is done by hand, so it takes as long as it takes. We don't like to put deadlines on everything. It’s more about getting the piece to look right. Sometimes we stay late when the light is good or when we’re in the middle of something. It’s just how we live. We don't make a big deal out of it. We just come in, pick up where we left off, and try to make things that look decent enough to hang up.
