If you head down to the Old Port, you’ll find us there. Alcock Ashdown (Gujarat) Ltd. has a long history tied to the water, and being at the Old Port is just where we belong. It’s a different kind of atmosphere compared to the new industrial zones. You can smell the salt and see the ships, and there’s always a bit of a breeze coming off the sea. The buildings here have seen a lot of years. We spend a lot of time outside or in the large sheds where the heavy work happens. It’s not a quiet office job; it’s loud, messy, and involves a lot of heavy lifting. We’re used to the grit and the sun. Working at the port means following the tides and the weather more than a clock sometimes. The crew here has been together for a while, and we’ve seen the port change over the decades. Some parts of the yard are newer, while others have that old, worn-in look that only comes from years of use. We don’t spend much time worrying about how the place looks to outsiders. We’re more concerned with the steel and the structures we’re working on. It’s a gritty place to work, but there’s something about being near the water that makes the long days go by a bit faster. We just show up, do the labor, and head home tired.
