Working near the Kumbharwada railway crossing means you always know when the trains are passing by. The noise is just part of the day here at Moti Talav Turning on Nari Road. We handle marine parts and stuff related to ships. It’s a gritty job. There’s a lot of rust, heavy iron, and the smell of the sea sometimes if the wind blows the right way. Our yard is full of things we've salvaged or collected over the months. It might look like a mess to someone driving past, but we know exactly where every bolt and engine part is tucked away. We spend a lot of time outside in the sun, so everyone here is pretty tanned and used to the heat. We don't have an air-conditioned office; we just have a small cabin with a fan and a few plastic chairs for when customers come to talk. It’s honest work and it’s what we know how to do. The ground is mostly dirt and gravel, so our boots are always dusty. Sometimes the railway gate stays closed for a long time and traffic backs up right in front of our gate, but that’s just life in this part of town. We don't bother with fancy advertising because the ship folks know where to find us. We just keep our heads down and deal with the scrap and the steel.
