Rishi Granites

Rishi Granites is based out in Kandasamiyur. It is a small enough area where most people know each other, or at least they know where the granite yard is. We started out here because it seemed like a good spot to set up. The work involves a lot of lifting and sorting through different types of granite blocks and slabs. It isn't a clean job by any means. There is always water and stone grit everywhere from the cutting process. We have a small crew that has been with us for a while. We don't really have a big office or a place to sit and have coffee. Usually, we're just out in the yard or near the machines. The noise can get pretty loud when everything is running, so we've gotten used to shouting over the saws. Kandasamiyur is a quiet place otherwise. We get customers from the surrounding villages who need something for their kitchen or a floor. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth usually does the trick for us. It’s a practical life, working with your hands and seeing the raw stone turn into something useful. We keep our hours regular and try to finish what we start on time. It is just a basic stone business run by local people who have lived here their whole lives.
