Shyam Ice Cream

Shyam Ice Cream is located in Bhatia, right on Station Road. If you walk out of the railway station, you can see us pretty easily. Being near the station means we see a lot of different faces every day. People are always in a rush to catch their trains, so they usually just grab something quick and keep moving. The sound of the train whistles and the announcements is something we have gotten used to over the years. The shop is quite narrow and we have some old metal chairs for people who want to rest their legs. The Station Road is always muddy when it rains, so we are constantly mopping the floor. It is a busy life here. We open early in the morning when the first trains start running. My father started this shop a long time ago and not much has changed since then. We have the same old counter and the same way of doing things. Sometimes travelers ask us for directions or about train timings, and we help them out if we know. The vibrations from the heavy trains sometimes make the spoons rattle on the shelves. It’s a noisy spot but we like the energy of the station area. We just keep the freezer stocked and the change ready for the next passenger who walks in. It’s a fast-paced environment but we managed to get used to it.
