Operating out of Plot N-60, 70, and 71 in Gidc Phase 1 has its challenges. Being spread across three spots means someone is always running back and forth across the alley to check on a machine or talk to a worker. It’s a busy industrial zone, so the noise from the neighbors is constant. You can hear metal clanging and the hum of big cooling fans all day long. We started small but ended up taking the extra plots when they became available because we needed more floor space for the inventory. The office is tucked into a corner of the main shed, and it’s usually piled high with files and sample parts. We don’t really do much in the way of decorating the place. It’s just industrial walls and heavy shelving. The floor is stained with oil in some places and the lighting could be better, but it works for what we need to get done. Dealing with the Gidc authorities and the utility guys takes up more time than I’d like. Most of our day is spent making sure the scheduled work gets finished before the power cut happens or the transport truck arrives. It’s a tight squeeze sometimes when the raw materials get delivered, and we have to shuffle things around to make a path. It’s just a standard workshop life where the coffee is always cold and there’s always something that needs fixing.
