Hari Darshan Handloom

You can find Hari Darshan Handloom on the ground floor of the Shreerang Complex. We are at shop number 17, right in the same line as the SBI ATM near Zadeshwar Road. It’s a small shop, but we pack it full of different fabrics and handloom items. You have to be careful walking through the aisles because there are stacks of cloth everywhere. The air smells a bit like cotton and dye. We spend most of our time unfolding things for customers and then folding them back up again. It’s a lot of manual work. We don't have any fancy displays; we just show people what we have on the shelves. Sometimes my cousin helps out when it gets busy on the weekends. The light in the shop isn't great, but we have some bright tubes that help show the colors of the thread. People from around the neighborhood stop in quite a bit, mostly looking for something specific for their homes. We know many of them by name. It’s a steady kind of life. We open up the shutters in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person to walk in. Dealing with the weavers and getting the stock in is the hardest part, but we’ve been doing it long enough to have a rhythm. It’s just a local shop trying to sell decent cloth.
