Mayuri Shoes is located right at Shravan Cross Road on the Dahej Bypass. It’s a spot that sees a lot of traffic because of the highway, so there is always a bit of noise from the trucks and cars passing by outside. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have some sturdy shelves and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. Most of the people who stop by are locals or people driving through who realized they need a new pair of sandals or work boots. We keep the front door open when the breeze is good, though it brings in a bit of road dust that we have to wipe off the boxes every evening. My uncle started this place, and I’ve been helping out here since I finished school. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just use a paper notebook to keep track of what we sell each day. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, so we keep a couple of torches handy under the counter. The bypass can get really busy during the holidays, and that’s when we stay open a bit later than usual. We have a small water cooler in the corner for anyone who is thirsty from the heat. It’s a quiet life most of the time, just waiting for the next customer to pull over and come inside to browse.
