Aakash Tiles

Our warehouse and shop are located over in the Gidc Mega Estate. We are spread across Plot No. 2, 4, 17, and 18. Having the plots separated means we are always moving between buildings to get things ready for the day. Tiles are heavy and moving them around is a lot of physical work. We have stacks of ceramic and stone that reach up toward the ceiling in the bigger sheds. The air in the Gidc area is usually thick with the sound of other factories and the dust from the road. When customers come to Aakash Tiles, they are usually looking for something specific for a floor or a wall. We don't have a glossy showroom with bright lights. It is just the raw product sitting on wooden pallets. The floors are covered in a thin layer of white dust from the tiles being moved around. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading the tempos that come in from the main road. The sun beats down on the estate and it gets pretty warm inside the sheds during the midday heat. We usually sit on some crates to eat our lunch and have some tea when we can. It is a simple operation and we have been in this spot for a good while. The neighbors in the other plots are all doing similar industrial work, so we all know each other. We just focus on getting the crates out to the trucks.
