We are located at E-24/6 in the Birla Copper Township out in Dahej. This part of the Bharuch district is very industrial. Hindalco Industries Limited operates a big facility here, and the township is where most of us stay. It’s a self-contained kind of place. You have the plant on one side and the housing on the other. Life here revolves around the copper production. There’s always something going on, whether it's a new shipment arriving at the port or a furnace being serviced. The wind blows pretty hard off the coast sometimes, and you can feel the salt in the air. We don't have much in the way of city entertainment, so we mostly stick to work and the company community. The township has its own rhythm. We wake up, head to the site, and spend the day dealing with heavy metals and chemical processes. It’s hot work, and the gear we wear is heavy, but that’s the job. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just make sure the copper gets processed right and sent out to the customers. The paperwork is just as important as the manual labor, so the office stays busy too. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment. We’ve been in this part of Gujarat for years and plan to stay for many more, just doing the work that needs to be done.
