Hindalco Ind.Ltd (Unit:Birla Copper)

Being out here in Dahej at the Birla Copper township means you are pretty far from the main city stuff. Our spot is at E-4/3 for the Hindalco Ind.Ltd (Unit: Birla Copper). It’s basically just where we live and do some of the paperwork for the unit. The air smells like metal and salt sometimes because the sea isn't that far away. Life in Bharuch district is busy but in a slow way if that makes sense. We spend a lot of time just managing the day-to-day things. The township is okay, it has what we need so we don't have to drive out too much. You see the same people at the gate every morning. It’s a lot of routine. Sometimes the power goes out or the roads get messy when it rains hard, but we deal with it. We aren't a big fancy office with glass walls. It’s just a standard house in the colony used for Hindalco business. We keep our files organized and try to stay on top of the mail. Most days are just about checking the logs and making sure the guys at the plant have what they need from us. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We've been at this address for a good bit now and it feels like home, even with the industrial chimneys always in view. We like the quiet evenings here and the way things just work.
