Lalit Weaving Industries

Lalit Weaving Industries is based at C1b, 706 in the 3rd Phase of Gidc. Our work is all about weaving, so the whole building usually vibrates a bit when everything is running at once. We have rows of machines that take up most of the floor space. Walking between them can be tight if you aren't careful. We use a lot of different colored threads, and sometimes they get tangled, which takes a long time to fix. The air inside always feels a bit heavy with the smell of the machines and the yarn. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, but it’s usually too dusty to see much. Most of our workers live nearby and have been doing this for years. We don't have a receptionist or anything fancy; if someone comes to the door, whoever is closest just goes to see what they need. We spend a lot of time checking the tension on the threads. If it’s off, the whole batch can be ruined. The 3rd Phase of Gidc is a busy place, and there are always people moving palettes around. We try to keep our area organized, but with so much yarn and finished fabric, it’s a constant battle. We just focus on the machines and making sure we have enough material to keep going through the week. It is a long day from start to finish. We always make sure the power is off before we leave for the night.
