Our place is out at Plot No. 3525 in the GIDC area of Panoli. If you know Bharuch, you know how industrial this whole zone is. We have a lot of space here for the chemical processing units and the storage tanks. Every morning starts with safety checks because that is the main thing when you are dealing with what we make. The air always has that specific industrial smell of the GIDC. It’s a huge plot so we do a lot of walking between the different sections. We have workers coming in on shifts throughout the night and day. The canteen is where most of the news travels. Sometimes the weather gets really humid and it makes the work on the floor feel much longer. We have been in this spot for quite a while now. Most of the guys here live nearby or take the company bus from the city. It’s a lot of routine like checking gauges and making sure the drums are filled correctly. We don’t really do much office work compared to the actual production side of things. There are always trucks waiting at the gate to load up. It’s a loud environment with the pumps going all the time but you stop noticing it after the first hour of your shift. We just try to get the numbers right and keep the plant running steady. It’s hard work but it’s what we do day in and day out.
