Ekon Abrasives

Ekon Abrasives is located at number 39 in the Hiron Shopping Centre. It’s an old building right opposite the railway station in GIDC, so we hear the trains coming and going all day long. It’s a very practical place to be because of the station, even if the noise is a bit much sometimes. We deal with abrasives, so there’s always a fine layer of dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. The shopping center itself has seen better days, and the stairs are a bit steep if you’re carrying heavy boxes. Our shop is packed with stock from floor to ceiling. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who are just passing through the GIDC area for their own work. We don’t have a fancy display or any marketing posters on the walls. It’s just shelves and boxes. We know the regular commuters and the other shop owners around here, so it feels like a little community. The weather gets really hot in the summer, and the station side of the building catches all the sun, so we have a few fans going at full blast most of the time. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s what we do, and we’ve been doing it at this spot for quite a while now.
