Our main setup is the cold storage over in Jaghadia Village. It’s part of the Bharuch District in Gujarat. Being out in the village means we are closer to the farms, which makes sense for what we do at Desai Fruits And Vegetables. The facility is basically a large cold storage building where we keep the produce fresh before it heads out. It’s a lot of work keeping everything at the right temperature. You have to watch the gauges all day and night. We have trucks coming in and out at all hours, especially during the harvest seasons. It’s a dusty place because of the rural roads, but inside the storage, it’s always clean and cold. The staff here mostly comes from the nearby areas. We aren't really a retail shop where you can just buy a kilo of onions. It’s more of a wholesale and storage operation. We’ve been working out of this spot in Jaghadia for a long time. The weather in Bharuch can get incredibly hot, so that cold storage is the most important thing we have. We spend our days checking the crates and making sure the logistics are moving. It’s not glamorous, but it’s how the food gets to the cities. We just focus on the daily routine and keeping the machines running.
