Abhishek Marble

Down here on the Main Road in Bhanjanagar, you’ll find Abhishek Marble. We are situated right near the new petrol tank, which makes it easy for people to find us when they are coming into town. Being in the Ganjam district, we get quite a bit of heat during the summer months, which makes working with heavy stone even tougher. The yard is full of different kinds of marble and granite slabs. They are heavy and cold to the touch, and moving them requires a lot of care so they don't snap. We spend our days measuring pieces and showing people the different patterns in the stone. It’s a lot of physical labor, and my back usually feels it by the end of the day. The sound of the saws cutting through the stone is pretty much the soundtrack to our lives here. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning. It’s mostly an open-air setup where you can see exactly what you are getting. The dust gets everywhere, on our clothes and in our hair, but that’s just the marble business for you. We’ve been part of the Bhanjanagar community for a long time. People know us for being straightforward about what we have in stock. We don't use any slick sales talk. If a piece has a vein through it, we show it to you. It’s just about providing the materials for people’s floors and stairs.
