The Foundation For Participatory Development Communication And Research is based out of House No 6/128 in the Somwari Ward of Pauni. It is a bit far out if you are coming from the main city, but it is a quiet enough place to get things done. Being in Tq Pauni means we are right in the heart of the local community, which is exactly how we like it. The house isn't very big, and we use a couple of the rooms for our research and development projects. Somwari Ward is a busy little area, especially on market days when everyone from the nearby villages comes into town. The streets are narrow and can get a bit muddy during the monsoon, so you have to watch where you are walking. We don’t have a flashy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a regular house with some old furniture and a lot of papers stacked up on the shelves. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, but we just work around it. Most of us who are here live nearby, so we just walk to the office in the morning. It’s a very local vibe, and we know most of the neighbors by name. They often stop by to say hello or ask what we are working on. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for the kind of participatory work we are trying to manage here in the ward.
