Shashikala Educational Foundation

Shashikala Educational Foundation is located in Nayatola, which is part of Naugachia in the Bhagalpur district. We operate out of Hari Kumar’s place. It is a typical Bihar neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else. The office is really just a part of the house that we have dedicated to the foundation’s work. You won’t find any glowing signs or glass partitions here. We have some wooden desks and a lot of books and files scattered around. Naugachia can be a busy place, especially around the market areas, but Nayatola is where we keep our focus. We spend most of our days dealing with the local educational needs and figuring out how to manage the resources we have. It is a small operation, really. Just a few of us sitting together and working through the paperwork. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out, but that is just part of life here. We don't try to sound like a big international organization because we are not. We are just local people in Bhagalpur trying to do something useful. The address at Hari Kumar’s house has become a bit of a hub for our small team. We like that people can just drop in and talk to us without an appointment. It is informal, but we get the work done eventually. Shashikala Educational Foundation is just a part of the local fabric here in Nayatola and we like it that way.
