S. H. Handlooms & Co.

You’ll find us out in Puraini, right near the local post. S. H. Handlooms & Co. is a small setup, mostly just a few of us working with the looms like people have done here for ages. It’s quiet in this part of the world compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. We spend a lot of time on our feet, checking the threads and making sure the machines are running okay. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. It's not a fast business. Handloom work takes time and patience, which is something we have plenty of. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream, we just make cloth and hope it’s useful for someone. The walls of our workspace are a bit worn down, and the floor is always covered in lint. Most of the people around here know us by name because we’ve been at this post for a long time. Our families have stayed in Puraini for generations, so this isn't just a job, it's just what we do to keep things moving. We don't have a website or fancy ads, just the work we do every day. If someone needs fabric, they usually just walk up and ask us what’s available. It’s a simple way to live and work, and it provides enough for us to keep the doors open year after year.
