Nirman Social Welfare Foundation

Our foundation is located in the village of Masarh, right along NH-80. We are in the Mamalkha panchayat within the Sabour block of Bhagalpur. We work out of Shipujan Mandal’s place. Being near the national highway means there is always traffic going by. It’s a noisy spot but very easy to reach. We focus on social welfare for the local villages. We have a small office space filled with files and some old wooden chairs. It’s a no-frills kind of place. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the windows open for the breeze. Sometimes the dust from the highway comes in, but we just wipe the desks and carry on. We spend our days meeting with folks from Mamalkha and nearby areas. They come to us with all sorts of issues, from road problems to school concerns. We try to help them figure out the right steps to take. We aren't experts, we are just people who have been around a long time. We know the local system pretty well. Bhagalpur is famous for its silk, but around here, it’s mostly farming. We like being part of the Sabour block. It feels like home. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are and stop by when they need to. The local tea seller stops by every morning with a fresh batch, which is usually the highlight of our morning meetings in the office.
