J. M. Silk

J. M. Silk is located on Kaswa Gola Ghat Road in Naya Bazar. We deal with silk fabrics. It is a very old trade. We have been in Naya Bazar for many years now. The shop is always full of different colors. Silk is a tricky thing to handle. You have to be careful with it. We get a lot of local buyers. People come here for weddings or festivals. It is a busy road with lots of rickshaws. We do not have a big air-conditioned showroom. It is a traditional shop with wooden shelves. We sit on the floor sometimes to show the cloth. It is how we have always done it. We know the weavers who make the silk. We do not have any fancy slogans. We just show the material and let people touch it. The price is what it is. We try to be fair. Naya Bazar is a loud place but we like the energy. Every morning we start by dusting the rolls. It is a lot of work but it is our life. We hope to stay here for many more years. Sometimes the monsoon makes it hard to keep the silk dry, so we have to be extra careful. We do not use computers much. Everything is written down in our old ledgers. It works for us. Customers like that we remember their names when they return.
