Rk Handloom is tucked away in Bari Masjid Lane over in Champanagar. It’s a bit of a narrow lane, so you have to know where you’re going to find us. We’ve been working with handlooms in this area for a long time. The sound of the looms is something you get used to pretty quickly. It’s a traditional kind of setup, not like those modern factories with all the robots. We do things by hand mostly. The space is a bit cramped because we have so much yarn and finished pieces sitting around. Champanagar is known for this kind of work, and we’re just one of the many small shops in the neighborhood. We don’t have a big website or a marketing department. People usually find us by word of mouth or by just walking down Bari Masjid Lane. It’s a simple way of living and working. We don't worry about being the biggest or the most polished. We just care about the weave and making sure the colors look right. Some days it’s hot and the work is slow, but we keep at it. It’s a family-type atmosphere here, even if we aren't all related. We drink tea, talk about the day, and keep the looms moving. It’s honest work and it keeps us grounded. We’re happy to be part of the history of Champanagar.
