CHAMAK DETERGENT

Down in Rampurdih Village, within the Shahkund Block of Dariapur Tehsil, is where we make CHAMAK DETERGENT. We are located quite close to the Chandika Devi Temple, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. Working in a village setting is different from the big city. The pace is a bit slower, but the work is still hard. We spend our days mixing the ingredients and getting the packaging ready for the local markets. Our small factory space is often filled with the sharp, clean smell of soap. Most of the people working here are from the nearby houses, so we all know each other’s families and stories. It’s a very local operation. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on making a product that actually cleans clothes well. The sounds of the village and the temple bells are a constant part of our workday. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit and wait for it to come back on, which gives us a chance to sit in the shade and talk. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We just make the detergent, pack it up, and send it out to the shops. It’s honest work that keeps us busy throughout the seasons, and we are fine with that routine.
