Kanchaneswar Dal Mill

Our dal mill is over in Katneshwar, right by the old oil mill. It’s a spot that’s easy to find if you’re already in the village area. The mill has been part of our daily life for a long time. It’s not a quiet place, there’s always the sound of the machines running and the smell of the grain being processed. We get a lot of people coming by from the nearby farms. Being situated near the oil mill makes it a bit of a hub for local agricultural activity. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It's just a few of us who know how to run the equipment and keep the bags moving. Most days are long, starting when the sun is barely up and finishing late when the last of the work is sorted. The building itself is just a functional space, nothing pretty about it, but it does what it’s supposed to do. We like being in Katneshwar because it’s a tight-knit place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. If you ask anyone near the post office, they can point you toward us. We don’t really change much around here, just keep the same routine year after year. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. The machines can be temperamental sometimes, but we’ve learned how to fix them ourselves over the years. It's just a regular dal mill doing its bit in the village. We hope to stay here for a long time.
