Jr.Engg.

My name is Subrat K Das and I am a Jr.Engg. based out of the A.P Rice Mill in Soro. This is in the Balasore district of Orissa. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for an engineering office, but it works for me. The rice mill is a busy place, and there is always the sound of machinery and the smell of grain in the air. I spend my days dealing with various technical tasks and engineering problems that come up around here. I don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come to see me, you’ll probably find me at my desk or out checking on some equipment. I try to keep my English simple and my work honest. I don’t like using corporate jargon or making things sound more impressive than they are. Being in a place like Soro, you get to know everyone and they get to know you. If you do a bad job, everyone hears about it, so I make sure to do things properly. It’s a bit of a rural setting, and sometimes it can be hard to get modern supplies quickly. I’ve learned to be patient and to make do with what is available. I’ve lived in Orissa all my life and I like the pace of things here. My business is just a one-man show mostly, and I prefer it that way. I just take each job as it comes and try to be fair to everyone.
