Industrial Training Centre, Balasore,Orissa

This place is run out of Bilana, which is a small area near Guamal in the Bhadrak district. We go by Industrial Training Centre, Balasore, even though we are technically situated here in the Bhadrak side of Orissa. It’s a bit confusing for some people who are new to the area, but the locals know where to find Jayaguru Das. We focus on teaching people the skills they need to work in factories or technical jobs. The classrooms are pretty simple, nothing like those fancy universities you see in the big cities. We have some old equipment for the students to practice on because that's what they will actually use in the real world. It’s a bit loud sometimes when the machines are running, but that's part of the learning process. We spend a lot of time showing people how to handle tools and follow safety rules. It’s not about being the best; it’s just about getting the job done right so people can find work and support their families. The weather here in Orissa can get really hot, so the afternoons in the workshop are tough. We just keep at it though. It’s honest work, teaching the next generation of workers. We don't have much in the way of a front office, mostly just the training space and some basic tools. Sometimes we run out of chalk or parts, but we make do with what we have.
