Durga Kirana Store

Durga Kirana Store is right on College Road in Bargarh. You can find us very close to the Kali Mandir, which is a big help for people trying to locate the shop. Meera Hotel is also just a short walk away. We have been running this grocery store for a good while now, serving the families who live in the nearby streets. It is a small space, but we try to keep the shelves stocked with all the basics like rice, pulses, sugar, and tea. During the mornings, it is usually quiet, but once the college lets out, we get a lot of students coming in for snacks or pens. The temple nearby means we see a lot of people on festival days, and the whole road gets very colorful and loud. I usually sit behind the wooden counter near the front door so I can greet everyone who walks in. We don't use any computerized systems; everything is done with a pen and a paper ledger. If the power goes out, which happens sometimes in Bargarh, we just light a few candles and keep going. We know most of our customers by name and often hear about their families while we are weighing out their grain. It is a simple life and a simple business, but it keeps us connected to the community here.
