Ak's Clones

You’ll find Ak's Clones out in Alligudem, which is part of the Burgampahad Mandal in the Khammam District. We are situated quite close to the Bhadrachalam Junction. Our work is pretty specific—we focus on plant clones for local farmers. It is a very practical, hands-on business. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. Most of our day is spent in the nursery areas or in the shade of the trees. The sun can be very strong out here in Khammam, so we have to watch the plants closely. We aren't a big corporation with lots of rules. It’s just a few of us who know how to handle the cuttings and make sure they take root properly. We started here because the land was right and we were near the junction for easy transport. The road to Alligudem can get a bit muddy when it rains, and sometimes the power goes out for a few hours. We just adjust our schedule and keep going. We don't use much in the way of promotional materials. Most of the people who buy from us have known us for years or heard about us from a neighbor. We keep things honest and simple. If a clone doesn't look healthy, we don't sell it. It’s hard work and it makes your back ache, but it’s satisfying to see the plants grow. We are just local people doing what we know how to do best.
