Ve Leathers India Pvt .Ltd. is based in Chennai, specifically at No.1, Balaji Nagar, First Street. This is in the Ekkatuthangal area, which is known for having a lot of small industries and workshops. Our place is right at the corner. When you walk inside, you can immediately smell the leather. It is a strong, earthy scent that stays on your clothes. We have large tables where we spread out the skins to check for marks or holes. It is a very hands-on process. We don't use a lot of high-tech machinery; mostly it is just people with good eyes and sharp knives. The floor is usually covered in small scraps of leather. We try to sweep up every evening, but it’s a never-ending job. The weather here in Chennai can be very hot, so we have big fans blowing all day to keep the air moving. We have a small office section where we keep the ledger and the phone. Most of our workers live nearby and have been with us for a long time. We are a private limited company, but we don't act like a big corporation. We are just a local business trying to make quality leather goods. Sometimes things go wrong with a batch, and we have to stay late to fix it. That is just part of the job. We are happy to be here in Balaji Nagar.
