Down here in Bhabua, things move at their own pace. We’re located at the Fortune Park Hotels Centre Point, which is part of that ITC Welcomgroup you might have heard of. It’s a solid building right in the middle of everything in Bihar, postcode 821108. Usually, the day starts pretty early with the sun coming through the front windows. You can hear the sounds of the street getting louder as the morning goes on. It’s not some fancy corporate headquarters with glass walls and no soul. It’s just us. We spend a lot of time making sure the lobby looks decent and the rooms are ready for whoever might show up. The furniture has been here a while, but it is comfortable enough. Sometimes the power flickers, but that’s just how it is around here. We’ve got a staff that’s been around the block, people who know the local area like the back of their hand. If you walk in, you’ll probably see someone sitting at the main desk sorting through papers or talking on the phone with a delivery guy. It’s a practical place, really. We don’t have those big scripted speeches or anything like that. We just focus on what needs doing, whether that’s fixing a leaky tap or making sure the kitchen has enough tea for the afternoon rush. It gets dusty outside, so there’s always someone with a broom nearby. That’s just life in Bhabua for us.
